Update: Hi-Rez has issued an update saying that the skin promotion noted below is having problems and is temporarily turned off.
Ever want to try out a god before buying in Smite? Or just want to play a certain one now and then, but don't want to buy?Well, now you can, with Smite's new update. The update introduces several new features, including a god rental system. A rental system, you ask? Yes, players will now be able to use Favor to rent gods for a single game's play. During the god selection screen, you can choose a god you don't own and follow the instructions to get temporary use.
Another major feature in the new update is the Joust mode, which is a 1v1 format game that is similar to the solo practice map. Take on just one friend at a time in a god duel by creating a party with both of you, then queuing up for Joust. The update also brings significant changes to the way assists are being awarded. Now, your god will have to either have contributed recently to hitting the downed player or within a certain radius, whether that's just being there or doing something that helped the fight (such as Ymir's wall or support from Hel) but never touched the downed player.
In the full list of changes, there are also four new items, a slew of balance changes, and the ability to buy gods and skins from the match lobby. Smite Facebook fans will get a free skin for Sun Wukong by liking the game's page here.
