UPDATE: Earlier we received word from Playnews in Italy that Riot was working on bringing League of Legends to mobile and console platforms. We reached out to Riot, and they have asked us to let you all know that a clarification of Ilja's comments will be forthcoming tonight or tomorrow.
League of Legends just might be popping up on mobile screens near you (or maybe yours) before long. Though there's no timeframe yet, Riot's Director of Community Ilja Rotelli did tell Playnews, during an Italian LoL presentation, that "At the moment we don't have projects to share, but we have a group working on our expansion to mobile gaming. We're definitely considering tablets and smartphones for League of Legends". Riot began a mobile group last year. Even consoles might be in the future for the game.
Continuing, "The same is for console gaming, consoles are going social.Every single person working at Riot Games is a gamer, so we perfectly know that PC is not the only happy island for us. We tend to consider every gamer."
With a couple of MOBAs already on mobile, and more on the way, it's only smart to keep expanding LoL in the directions players are headed.
