Illyriad's upcoming update will change the game. It's a promise many have heard from games reps and developers before, often as marketing speak. But for Illyriad, it's true. The game world will be changing over to a completely different model. Instead of a randomly gnerated world biology system, the new Illyriad game world will be populated with a new logical model the team is calling "organic". (Be sure to read our exclusive Q&A with Illyriad to find out the process beind the decision & how players will be impacted!)
It is a logical model that will be especially visible in how the game's animal populations are determined and generated. Before, all of this was done randomly, but now the players will have an impact on the process. NPC populations will be kept track of and player interactions with the animals in game will have an effect on populations, size, and areas they inhabit.
Says Illyriad's founder, James Niesewand,"As an example, animal populations in Illyriad have previously appeared randomly. Now, each pack or herd of animals will be tracked in real time, its population increasing over time, and the pack splitting when the population grows to a certain point. Players will be able to dramatically impact the sizes of animal populations, which will have multiple consequences.”
This is the first step in a major shift for Illyriad, with promised overhauls of the trade and economic systems later this year. The new organic animal populations update will go live on April 22nd.
