Three days of stupendous Dota 2 action at DreamHack Winter 2012 has finally found its winner. The finals took place between the American giants, Evil Geniuses, and the uprising Swedes, No Tidehunter. A fierce battle ensued between the two in an attempt to win the coveted Dota 2 crown, which was previously won by mTw in two successive seasons.
Following the footsteps of mTw to win DreamHack Winter 2012 were the dark horses in No Tidehunter, who eased through the group stage and play-offs, undefeated. However, in the grand final, their overhauling winning streak was ended by EG in the first game.
Trailing 0:1 in the best-of-three grand final, NTH, gathered their momentum and thrusted themselves into game 2 and won it convincingly. With the score being tied at 1:1, both teams went into game 3 in order to determine the new champions, which NTH won it convincingly with some superb performance as a complete unit.
That being said, No Tidehunter earns their maiden DreamHack Winter 2012 crown along with $ 14,000 as cash prize, while EG place second and walk away with $ 7,000. Third and fourth place is shared by Team Empire and Fnatic.EU, who win $ 3,500 each.
