Last week, we browsed through some of the easiest heroes to be picked for our beginners. Satisfying your needs to be guided with a proper hero list throughout the phase of the game, we switch our focus towards the 'moderate' heroes of the game aka heroes which require much more than a beginner's skill-set in the game. Such a transition may or may not be easy, but with proper determination and practice while getting a hold on the general know-how of the game, it is an easy task to make the switch, regardless of any circumstances. Without further ado, lets take a peek into the moderate hero selection guide for our friends.
The lady in blue is a perfect choice for new players wanting to try out a complicated hero. We highly recommend to play this character if you are looking for improvement. She is an amazing support hero, widely used in competitive and high ranked games and lives up to the reputation of being a top notch support hero.
Every coin has two sides, so does every character in DOTA 2 - bright and dark. The brighter side of Crystal Maiden can be associated with her ganking and disabling abilities. She serves as a great ganker due to her disabling and slowing skills. Further she brings increased mana regeneration to the entire team and can provide much help to an ally in a lane.
The darker side is usually the slow paced and weak nature of Crystal Maiden. Sometimes it can be boring to play her since she is one of the slowest support heroes in DOTA 2. She is squishy and can die within a wink of the eye, making it essential to master this hero. If you mess up during the early game, the damage done is tremendous to be recovered.
Crystal Nova: A wave of damaging frost slows enemy movement and attack rate. This slow lasts for up to 5 seconds at max level, this is a nice ability to have for ganking and also saving allies.
Frostbite: Encases an enemy in ice, prohibiting movement and attack, while dealing damage per second. Again, another great ganking ability and of course can also be used to save allies.
Arcane Aura: Gives additional mana regeneration to all friendly units on the map .5 to 1 to 1.5 to 2 with each level. Specially, this ability is a boon to the team as it provides you mana regeneration.
Freezing Field: Channeling – Surrounds Crystal Maiden with random icy explosions that slow enemies. Lasts 4 seconds. It has AOE (Area of Damage) effect.
This is why Crystal Maiden is such a great support hero, she has all the vital elements present in her game play which is advantageous to the team.
The second preference in our moderate type of hero list is Skeleton King. A strength hero in nature, and highly durable during the different scenarios of the game, this hero marks his impact at any point during the game. With his vicious nature of tank-ability and his ability to carry the team throughout mid to late game, Skeleton King, is an apt choice for any beginner urging to try out a complicated hero.
Having only ONE active and THREE passive spells, does make it seem like an easy hero to play, however, there is more to it than meets the eye. Poor play and utilization of this hero can result in an imperishable disaster for you as well as your team since you are always vulnerable until you reach level 6.
Once stuffed with proper inventory and ammunition, he can destroy each and any hero crossing his paths; both weak or strong. He performs the important task of acting as a disabler, durable carry, and sometimes as a support. Thus, the easier you think it is to play this particular hero, the easier you shall fall into the realms of darkness.
Hellfire Blast: Skeleton King fires a sphere of hellfire at an enemy unit, dealing damage and stunning, then dealing damage over time and slowing the target. A perfect prize for an escaping enemy.
Vampiric Aura: Nearby friendly melee units gain HP based on their damage dealt when attacking enemy units.
Critical Strike: Skeleton King gains a chance to deal bonus damage on an attack.
Reincarnation: Skeleton King's bones reform after death, causing him to resurrect when killed in battle. Upon reincarnation, enemy units in the area will be slowed by 30%. This is exactly like the Aegis of Immortal and grants you another life.
The God of Thunder, Lord of Olympus, father of gods - Zeus is known by many names. The charismatic immortal god with a taste for mortal women was given an ultimatum by his immortal wife .. "being loyal to women". Getting back to point, Zeus is a rather uncanny hero who can be utilized in many ways.
He can be played as a support or as a nuker during the longetivity of the game. He has the ability to completely dominate his opponent in the opposing lane with his three active skills. One of the heavy nukers in-game, Zeus can also be termed as one of the most fragile hero to be ever played.
The immortal can be killed by any disabler and stunner with ease due to the low hit points, low movement speed and no escape mechanism. Even the armour is low thus making it vulnerable to vicious attacks. His every spell does magical damage to opponents in a heavy manner and also is responsible for revealing invisible units with his casting abilities.
Arc Lightning: Hurls a bolt of lightning that leaps through nearby enemy units. Instant spam mechanism with low cooldown can harass the hell out of an opponent and cause grave pain.
Lightning Bolt: Summons a bolt of lightning to strike an enemy unit, causing damage and a ministun. Lightning Bolt also provides truesight around the target in a radius of 900. A single target radius, it hurls a massive blow of damage to an opponent, if weak, instantly perishable.
Static Field: Zeus shocks all nearby enemy units whenever he casts a spell, causing damage proportional to their current health. Another realm of spell that grants Zeus damaging powers.
Thundergod's Wrath: Strikes all enemy heroes with a bolt of lightning, no matter where they may be. Thundergod's Wrath also provides truesight around each hero struck in a radius of 900. If an enemy hero is invisible, it takes no damage, but the True Sight is still created at that hero's location.
An extremely fragile hero with a heavy nuking power, can certainly test the patience and skill level of a person opting to try and improve in the complicated hero stage.
Also known as Lesale Deathbringer, Venomancer lives upto his name of poisoning his enemies whenever he hits them, thereby, causing utter pain and damage to them. He comes as the last hero in the moderate hero list for you folks, who can be played competitively and also requires a lot of skill to master it.
He can be used in variety of definitions, cominations, etc. He can play the role of a support, nuker, initiator or as a pusher; whichever style that suits him best. Rest assured, he deals damage stinging through the opponents at every possible stage of the game.
Due to the nature of his character physique, it is sometimes hard to target/select Venomancer that gives him an advantage over others. He is very difficult to target. With a heavy base armour during the initial stage .. grants him durability amidst the low movement speed that can sometimes cause trouble. He can escape effectively by using his gale and slowing down opponents that are hit.
Venomous Gale: Launches a ball of venom in a line, poisoning enemy units so that they take both initial damage and damage over time, as well as suffering slowed movement. Venomous Gale deals damage every 3 seconds over its duration. Needless to say, this skill can be used as a slowing as well as an escape mechanism.
Poison Sting: Adds poison damage to Venomancer's normal attacks, slowing movement speed. A passive yet useful spell. It causes immense suffering and pain to the opponent.
Plague Ward: Summons a plague ward to attack enemy unit and structures. The ward is immune to magic. Immune to magic and hard to be killed with low cooldown, makes it an essential element into pushing lanes/towers with immense speed. Stacks of such ward can be extremely annoying and nail-bitting to the opponent.
Poison Nova: A spreading ring of poison that does damage over time to enemy units around Venomancer. Poison Nova's effect cannot bring units below 1 HP. An AOE ultimate, combined with venomous gale can certainly bring an enemy closer to his death.
