Jagged Alliance Online has been formally relaunched, and it's having success on the Steam charts as a result. Some were initially disappointed with the foray online into a free to play game, but with some refinements, the re-release happened three weeks ago.
The monetization system, which was among the chief features players initially disliked, has been revamped. Seems that players are rediscovering the game. Currently sitting on the top 5 popular DLCs in the free to play category, the developers at Cliffhanger say they are adding capacity due to demand.
Jagged Alliance Online lets players engage in turn-based PvP battles or missions, earn experience and unlocks, and put together their own merc squad. The game includes over 500 weapons and equipment, as well as more than 40 mercenaries. Confused about that DLC notation? While turn-based tactical PvP is the heart of the current game, there's a campaign pack that players can buy and download that works like a traditional single player experience. You'll be able to use your same merc experiences across each, however.
