Warhammer 40K is making the jump to mobile with the help of Roadhouse Interactive, the developer of MechWarrior Tactics.
The announcement details a deal between Roadhouse and Games Workshop, which are working together on bringing the WH40K license to mobile. Few details were given but the game will be a "side-scrolling action game for smartphones and tablets where you guide a lone Space Marine on his journey to destroy endless hordes of enemies set in the exceptionally rich Warhammer 40,000 universe".
Games Workshp has been working with multiple developers, granting several licenses for WH40K games in certain forms, especially since the demise of the former THQ. With all these deals going on, it still hasn't been 100% clarified if Relic, now under Sega, will continue with WH40K. Given how these new deals seem to focus on mobile or specific narrow fields, it seems likely that the core strategy license is Relic's hands.
No word on a title or which specific platforms the new Roadhouse-created game will release on, but the studio's co-founder Tarnie Williams had this to say in a statement: "We are incredibly excited to bring a part of Warhammer 40,000 to life on mobile and tablet and it’s great to work with Games Workshop. The legions of fans of Space Marines will now be able to fight the Ork menace while on the move!"
